The Cultural Society of Crete and the Chania Film Festival, steadfast in their rendezvous with the public, present for the second year the Pre-Festival Exhibitions for the summer of 2023.

On the floor of the Mediterranean Architecture Center, 50 posters from the great work of one of the most important Greek designers, Dimitris Arvanitis, are presented.

Dimitris T. Arvanitis was born in Chalkida and lives in Athens where he works as a visual communication designer for Espresso Studio. He was an art director for magazines, newspapers, record companies and publishing houses. He designs posters, books, company logos, organizes exhibitions, while his works are in Design Museums (Les Arts Decoratif – Paris, Dansk Plakat Museum – Denmark), as well as in publications and archives of European Biennales. He has written articles on graphic design in magazines and newspapers and published books. In 2004, he was elected a member of the Alliance Graphique Internationale. Since 1986, he has participated in the main Poster Biennales in countries from Poland to Iran. He is considered one of the leading Greek print communication designers.

Painting in Cinema, Cinema Poster Exhibition.

On the ground floor of the building are presented giant posters, unique works of art, hand painted. Posters and models used in German cinemas in the 40s, 50s, 60s. Unique handmade movie posters are not just posters, they are artistic creations, they are a special kind of art that deserves to be admired. Giant posters from the same artistic Studio exist in the collections of the largest Museums in the world, such as the Metropolitan Museum of New York (M.O.M.A.), the Film Festival of Berlin and Munich and other European Museums. The exhibition is complemented by rare film cameras and other evidence from the beginning of the last century. The collection belongs to Lefteris Lamprakis.
