Samaria Gorge

On Monday, June 5, World Environment Day, the Samaria Gorge will be open to visitors with free admission. Access is from the north entrance (Xyloskalo) or the south entrance (Agia Roumeli) during the following hours:

From Omalos (Xyloskalo): a. 07:00-13:00, for visitors who will cross the entire route or part of it. b. 13:00 – 15:00, for visitors who will move in the first two (2) kilometers from the northern entrance, specifically on the route “Xyloskalo – Neroutsiko rest area”

From Agia Roumeli: a. 07:00-13:00, for visitors who will cross the entire route or part of it. b. 13:00 – 16:00, for visitors who will move in the first two (2) kilometers from the southern entrance, specifically on the route “Agia Roumeli – resting place of Afentis Christos”.

The Gorge opened its “gates” at the beginning of May, after the necessary infrastructure maintenance works that included shaping the path and replacing the infrastructures that were destroyed due to the weather conditions.
