“The sea that unites us”, Exhibition of contemporary art of Kytherian and Cretan artists, Ag. Rokkos – Chania, 19th – 30th of August
The Contemporary Art Museum of Chania Olivepress in collaboration with Follow Your Art Art Gallery and the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania organize and present the exhibition of contemporary art by Kytherian and Cretan artists “The sea that unites us”.
The opening of the exhibition will take place on Wednesday, August 21, 2024, at 20:30, at the Venetian Church of Agios Roccos, 48 Daskalogianni & Square 1821, Splantzia, Old Town, Chania, Crete.
In the group exhibition of contemporary art “The sea that unites us” Kytherian and Cretan visual artists are participating exploring the two-way contacts and relationships through the sea, which separates and at the same time unites Crete and Kythera. The partnership and coexistence of the specific island populations will be examined through the sea route that bridges communication, trade, solidarity, cultures and the feeling of freedom that the ocean spreads between them.
The exhibition “The sea that unites us” is co-organized by the Region of Crete, the Regional Unit of Chania, the Municipality of Kythera, the Municipality of Platanias, the Match More Art Gallery and participates in the CHANIART 2024 Art Program.
The exhibition is accompanied by a color bilingual (Greek, English) brochure in which the participating works are presented together with documentary texts, analyzes and comments by the curators.
The exhibition will be presented from 19.08.2024 to 30.08.2024, open every day 20:00-23:00, with free entry.
