The Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania participates in the celebration of International Museum Day, which this year has as its central theme “Museums and societies in constant change”, highlighting the constantly evolving relationship of museums with the social environment and the challenges of the era.

In this context, we invite you to the Archaeological Museum of Chania on Sunday, May 18, 2025, from 11:00 to 13:00, for the presentation of its “digital toolbox”. The action focuses on the utilization of new technologies for the promotion of cultural heritage, aiming at accessibility, participation and the modernization of the museum experience.

The Museum’s digital toolbox includes:

Augmented and virtual reality applications

Interactive digital games and multimedia content

Interconnection with online platforms and social networks

Accessible tools for presenting archaeological material for audiences of different ages and skills

The above digital tools reflect the constant concern of the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania for strengthening the relationship of citizens with their cultural identity, promoting lifelong learning, and the dynamic adaptation of museums to social, technological and educational changes.

In an era where societies are transforming, museums are called upon to renew their role as open spaces for dialogue, integration, critical thinking and active cultural participation. The presentation of the Digital Toolbox reflects this approach, attempting to bring the public closer to culture through technology, with innovative and enjoyable forms of interaction.

Participation is free and suitable for visitors of all ages.
