As part of the communication action “Green Cultural Routes 2025”, the Ephorate of Antiquities of Chania, in collaboration with the Cultural and Development Association “Pergamos” and with the support of the Municipality of Platanias, is organizing an information event for the general public about the antiquities in the Vryse area of ​​Kydonia, on Sunday, May 25, 2025 at 10:00, which will include:

  • Short speech about the archaeological site of Vryse by the Ephorate’s archaeologist, Efthymia Kataki, at the building of the Vryse Agricultural Cooperative
  • Hiking route on a section of the P2 Path through the “Katsouna Gorge” that crosses the declared and demarcated archaeological site (as far as the church of St George, with the magnificent view) and returns to the village in a circular manner.                                                                             
  • A treat from the Cultural Association will follow.
Participants should wear appropriate clothing and footwear, bring a hat, water, a light snack and, optionally, a special hiking stick.  
The route is approximately 2.5-3 km., initially uphill, and with a difficulty level of 2/5.  
Participants will be accompanied by a Red Cross team.
