EUROPEAN MUSIC DAY 2025, Multiple venues, Chania Saturday 21.06
The Municipality of Chania plans to participate, as every year, in the European Music Festival, which will be officially celebrated on Saturday, June 21. The European Music Festival is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture & Sports.
In 1982, on June 21 – a symbolic date due to the summer solstice – at the initiative of the then French Minister of Culture Jack Lang and the support of the French Ministry of Culture, the Music Festival was celebrated in France for the first time, with the aim of bringing “all the musicians out into the streets”. Since then, the years have passed and hopefully, by 2025, we will “take” the streets again with lots of music, organizing events and workshops in the city with free admission for the public.
European Music Festival Program:
The Philharmonic of the Municipality of Chania celebrates and fills the streets with “Notes in the Streets” on Saturday, June 21, at 11:00 a.m. at 1866 Square. A wonderful musical experience full of rhythm and melodies awaits young and old, filling the streets of our city with joy!
This year marks 100 years since the birth of our great composer Mikis Theodorakis, the Theodorakis house in Galata on Saturday, June 21 at 11.00 am will welcome children aged 6 and over for a music workshop entitled: “Golden Green Leaf at Mikis’ House”.

The Chania Street Group Kath’ Odon invites you on Saturday, June 21, starting at Giali Mosque at 19:30 and ending in Nea Chora, to a “Musical Walk”.

The music band “The Restless Consumers” will be waiting for us for a special concert with well-known 70s rock & soul covers, their own original material and compositions by Kevin Jennings on Saturday, June 21, at 8:00 PM on Halidon Street near the Municipal Gallery.

The “Traditional Musical Ensemble of Charchalis and the children” participate with joy and love and give color and sound to this unique day at the Russian Barracks at 8:30 PM.

Rock Under The Clock presents on Saturday, June 21 at the Mikis Theodorakis Theater at 9:00 PM the historic concert-without-audiences by PINK FLOYD at the Roman amphitheater of Pompeii “Pink Floyd: Live at Pompeii”.
