Antonia Papatzanaki: “Breathlines”, Exhibition – Grand Arsenal, Venetian Port of Chania, 7th of September – 8th of October
The Region of Crete – Chania Regional Unit and the Municipality of Chania are pleased to present the solo exhibition of the distinguished sculptor Antonia Papatzanakis.
The exhibition, entitled “Breathlines”, approaches the burning issue of the environmental crisis, highlighting the vital role of plants both for our existence and health, as well as for maintaining the ecological balance of the planet. It includes a series of small-scale oil paintings and light sculptures from the Structural series, an installation entitled Vital Lace, consisting of eight large-scale wall-mounted sculptures made of laser-cut stainless steel, Plexiglas and light , as well as a video of the digital works of the Xylem series. The curator of the exhibition is the art historian Christoforos Marinos. As part of the exhibition, a Round Table discussion will take place, entitled “Climate crisis: the years of unbearable heat”, moderated by Dr. Marine Biology Nina Fragkopoulou.
